Comprised of the four towns of Hampden, Newburgh, Winterport and Frankfort and six schools. Three of the schools are elementary schools: Earl C. McGraw (grades K-2) and George B. Weatherbee (grades 3-5) in Hampden, and Leroy H. Smith (pre-K through grade 4) serving Frankfort and Winterport. Two of the schools are middle schools (Wagner grades 5-8 & Reeds Brook grades 6-8): Reeds Brook serving Hampden and Newburgh and Samuel L. Wagner serving Frankfort and Winterport. Hampden Academy (grades 9-12), is the single high school for the district. Leroy H Smith School is a public school operated by MSAD 22. We have approximately 275 students.  Housed at the Smith School is a Pre-K Program for four year olds.  Our school has fourteen classroom teachers, three Special Education teachers, one speech and language pathologists, three and one half Title I/Reading Recovery teachers, one half time technology teacher, one physical educations teacher, and a guidance counselor.  We share teachers with the other district schools for music and art.  Several educational technicians are also employed at the Smith School..To learn more visit website.

The Wagner School opened in September of 1992, and houses students in grades 6, 7, and 8. Presently there are 25 full-time faculty members and 10 addtional specialists to service our students. The building has remained beautiful and is an excellent facility to educate our young adults. Instruction is delivered by teams at each grade level, creating classes that motivate and encourage students to build on past learning.

Our students have an opportunity to become involved with technology to prepare them for the changing world of the 21st century. Students at the middle level are unique in character, needs, and desires. The programs at Wagner are designed to meet the challenge of providing a quality education around the uniqueness, while at the same time bridging the transition from childhood to young adulthood. Hampden Academy was founded in 1803 in the central Maine community of Hampden. Hampden Academy draws students from the communities of Hampden, Winterport, Newburgh and Frankfurt.
